So, who is GatisEglitis? GatisEglitis is one of the co-founders of the investment company EXANTE. He has been a key member since its development, and he is currently its Executive Director.

Background and early career

GatisEglitis is the Executive Director of EXANTE. Born and raised in Latvia, he has a Bachelor of Science in InternationalEconomic Relations from the University of Latvia. He also has a master’s degree in finance from the same university. In order to expand his professional knowledge, Eglitis further completed a second master’s degree in strategic management and finance from Copenhagen Business School in Denmark.

Eglitis started his career as an Institutional Sales Trader at Saxo – a Danish investment bank. Later on, he then became an Institutional Business Sales Manager. This helped him gain substantial experience in global business development in an investment environment, and his time in Saxo also helped him gain familiarity with the financial markets on a professional level.

Work at EXANTE

EXANTE was founded by Eglitis, Alexey Kirienko and Anatoliy Knyazev in 2011 in Malta, while Eglitis was a member of the executive and investment committee in the country. Upon founding the brokerage firm, EXANTE changed the game for domestic market participants. At the time, it was the first and only broker in the region to provide global market access and was built on a strong trading infrastructure.

In the first few years of the brokerage firm’s development, Eglitis played an important role in turning the broker from a local player into a global company, thereby connecting investors and markets from all over the world. His professional experience in the financial markets and his expertise in dealing with complicated financial instruments have also helped Eglitis connect with sophisticated investors. These investors then sought out investing in credit derivatives, statistical equity arbitrage, and futures investing. As such, EXANTE evolved to become a cutting-edge broker that could meet these advanced trading strategies and preferences.

In 2016, Eglitis became the Managing Partner of the broker and was now directly responsible for its strategic planning and business development. During his time at EXANTE, he did not only focus on servicing high-profile customers. Instead, Eglitis also paid equal attention to transforming the broker into a one-stop shop for traders of all stripes. Eglitis recognised that it was essential EXANTE did not alienate any group of investors. Whether clients made thousands of trades a day or preferred to simply buy and hold a small number of investments, the broker sought to provide bespoke and personalised services.

Outside of his professional work in EXANTE, Eglitis is also passionate and dedicated to participating in the development of the financial world as a whole. He has been invited to and participated in various panel discussions on fintech and investment innovations. Eglitis has also received offers to take part in industry events, in order to share his forecasts and analysis of the markets.

In his spare time, Eglitis is also an advocate for building a greener and more sustainable way of living. This passion developed when he moved from Denmark to Malta and was surprised to see the landscape relatively barren – in comparison to the greenery in Denmark. Aside from being involved in numerous landscaping projects in the Mediterranean, including planting 250 trees with the EXANTE team, Eglitis is also encouraging clients to donate funds to the Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Center in Malta, to help create a garden.
